It’s back! One of GALT’s “fan favorite” events – “ Cooking for the Hounds” at The Mercury, 11909 Preston Road (northwest quadrant of Preston and Forest), Dallas, is happening on Saturday, November 16th, 12:00-3:00

For the 13th year, The Mercury’s famed Executive Chef Chris Ward, is opening his kitchen and his heart for a cooking demonstration and sampling of the following dishes:

Olives, Olives, Olives
Assorted Sushi and Sushi rolls
Shrimp and Stone Ground Grits
Chicken Milanaise and Arugula Salad
Crepes Suzette

Assisting Chef Ward this year will be long time GALT supporter and actor Burton Gilliam!



The $85 seating includes a full course tasting of gourmet dishes, two drink tickets, a special silent auction, featuring jewelry, art, spa/restaurant certificates, doggie gifts, live auction and more! VIP seating is SOLD OUT. In addition to beer and wine, Greyhounds and Salty Dog cocktails will be served.

As Executive Chef and Partner for Dallas’ award-winning restaurant, The Mercury, Chef Ward has utilized his extensive cooking experiences from around the globe to create a truly unique menu. Enjoy new American cuisine with French and Asian influences, producing unexpected and celebrated flavor combinations which have gained recognition in Gourmet Magazine’s Top Ten in Texas, Food & Wine Magazine’s Best New Restaurant, and Travel & Leisure Magazine’s “America’s Top 50”.

As of June 2019, GALT entered into a two+ year lease of a private boarding kennel, in anticipation of the influx of Greyhounds due to current industry changes. It is a constant challenge for GALT to meet the increasing medical and boarding expenses for our greys. Chef Ward is a true Friend of GALT’s greyhounds, who always donates for this event.
