"Voitures Paniers" or "Wicker Carriages," a charming horse and buggy design by the talented French and Hermès designer, Julia Abadie. Her design depicts an array of 19th century French horse drawn carriages whose bodies were partially made of intricately woven wickerwork both to decorate and lessen the weight of these carriages. This design was first issued in 1984, and Hermès reissued the design as part of its 1990/1991 autumn/winter collection The copyright symbol (photo 3) and attached fabric/care label (photo 5) date this this carré as a 1990 reissue.
The colorway is comprised of a dark navy blue and background with design details rendered in yellow and burnished golds.
