"Les Plaisirs Du Froid” or “The Pleasures of the Cold” is a design by the iconic Hermès artist, Hugo Grygker, and was first issued by Hermès in 1955.
His magnificent design depicts an early 1800’s French winter scene. The center panel shows sleigh riders, horses, a greyhound perhaps and a puppy, couples, skaters frolicking on a frozen pond or river being watched by townspeople. Framing this panel are more skaters, young men in Napoleonic era military uniforms in various poses. The design has been recorded to have been reissued as a part of the Hermès 1990/1991 Autumn/Winter Collection and again as a part of the 1997/1998 Autumn/Winter Collection. This scarf is a 1990 reissue.
The colorway is composed of a yellow gold, burnished gold and light silver border on a linen white background with light grey, apricot, taupe, ecru, chestnut and auburn accents.
This carré is in 10 mint, unworn condition (see our condition scale for reference). There are no stains, spots, pin holds, discolorations, thread snags or thread runs. The silk is soft, heavy and thick. The hems are perfect, plump and puckered. The fabric/care label is attached. The scarf measures 35.25" x 34.75" (89.6cm x 88.3cm).
