A collectible Hermès scarf for both fashion and horse lovers,"Le Monde du Polo" or "The World of Polo," by Hermès artist, Chantal de Crissey. Her design, depicting polo players and horses in action in various past polo tournaments, was issued for the Hermès Palm Beach Cup, a major 1985 season polo competition held in Palm Beach, Florida. The design was first issued in 1985, and reissued in 1987/1988. The attached fabric/care label (photo 8) dates this carre̒ as an original 1985 spring/summer collection issue.
The colorway is comprised of a candy apple red border surrounding a French blue and tan background with design details rendered in chestnut, white, ecru, light silver grey, black, and with red and pink accents.
This 33 year old carre̒ is in vintage 8/10, excellent condition (see our condition scale for reference). The hems are intact, tight, and round. The silk still has a crisp, smooth hand. Its colors are vibrant. Fabric/care label is attached. There is a discreet, nearly invisible, single thread run located in the right center border area (see photo 9) and a faint red mark located in the top center pane (see photo 10). Neither of these two minor imperfections should be noticed whenever the scarf is worn or shown. Otherwise, this scarf is near perfect. The scarf measures 35.25" x 35.25" (89.5cm x 89.5cm). No box comes with this scarf, but be assured we will carefully pack and pad it for damage-free shipping to you.
An excellent price for an excellent vintage Hermès.
