"Caleche Elastique" or "Elastic Carriage" by Hermès artist, Bali Barret. This now rare design is a contemporary reiteration of Hugo Grygkar's Maison de Hermès iconic horse and carriage logo wherein she has distorted the vintage image to create a new contemporary, abstract design that looks glorious when worn and tied. Barret, in addition to creating new innovative Hermès designs, often using prior Hermès classic vintages designs which she intermixed to create new contemporary designs such as "Carre̒ en Carre̒s," "À Cheval Sur Mon Carre̒" and the latest two design issues such as "Cheval Phoenix," she is also head of the Hermès silk department where she constantly explored new treatments of silk, e.g, 'glam' lames, plisse̒s and the patchwork scarves that use parts of designs of different scarves that were actually sewn together to create a new design. The "Caleche Elastique" design was first issued in 2004 as a 90cm silk twill carre̒, and again in 2014 as a 70cm petit in the renown vintage silk twill. This petit scarf is, of course, a 2014 issue.
The colorway is comprised of pink border and background with design details rendered in bright yellow gold, French rose, carnelian red, white, antique gold and hunter green. This scarf features contrasting hems/edgings in French rose.
This petit scarf is in 10 out of 10, new and unused condition (see our condition scale for reference). There are no condition issues to declare: no stains, spots, holes, thread snags or thread runs. Silk is still boutique fresh with a crisp, smooth Hermès silk hand. The fabric/care label is attached It was not a boutique sale scarf. The scarf measures 27" x 26.75" (cm x 89.5cm). It comes in its original Hermès gift box with its bolduc/ribbon box tie.
