Details
  • "Samuel De Champlain" aka "Le Canada" was designed by the renown Texas artist from Waco, Texas, Kermit Oliver, the only American artist ever engaged by Maison de Hermès to create designs for its scarves. This scarf was Issued by Hermès as part of its 2006/2007 autumn/winter collection. His design was inspired by the explorations of Samuel de Champlain, French navigator, cartographer, draftsman, soldier, explorer, geographer and later called "The Father of New France," who explored and mapped the area that is now eastern Canada 400 years prior to the issuance of this design.

This scarf has a colorway for all seasons, and is comprised of a navy and cornflower blue border, a sky blue background with design details rendered in white, camel, taupe, sapphire blue, royal blue and black.

This scarf is in 10, new, mint and unworn collector's condition (see our condition scale below for reference). There are no stains, spots, discolorations, holes, thread snags or thread runs. The hems are intact, tight and plump. The fabric/care label is attached. The silk is crisp and thick with a smooth hand. Colors are bright and fresh. The scarf measures 35.25" x 35.25" (89.6cm x 89.6cm). It comes in its Hermès box plus decorative sleeve.

Mr. Oliver's designs have become some of the most collectible and valuable Hermès scarves today, and this highly beloved design is no exception. This truly is a Hermès scarf to be owned to wear or to show as a Hermès collectible that should appreciate in value over the years.
