"Le Tarot" was designed by long-time Hermès French artist, Annie Faivre, and first issued by Hermès as part of its 1991/1992 Autumn/Winter Collection. Her stunning intricate and detailed design was inspired by tarot cards, playing cards created in the mid-15th century for trick-taking games and later used for divinatory and esoteric/occult purposes. She altered her design for the 1993 Hermès Spring/Summer Collection reissue by changing the design's ornate border to a solid border and replacing a number of the the original card designs with later tarot card designs. The newer design was reissued in 1993 and again in 2003. The attached fabric/care label dates this scarf as either a 1992 or 1993 reissue.
The colorway is comprised of a midnight blue border, a background of navy and cobalt blues, white and golds, with design details in mint green, forest green, light yellow, silver and fawn.
