A most exotic and richly colored design whose title "Chasse en Inde" means "Hunting in India." This 1986 design was by longtime French and Hermès artist, Michel Duchene. His refined, luxuriant design is reminiscent of an illumination or Indian block-print textiles. Hunting scenes are repeated to infinity on a series of bands, with flora and animals --birds, tigers, foxes and gazelles--pursued by hunters on horseback, on elephants and on foot. In the center, a dense jungle camouflages animals that appear to melt into the background, becoming one with the flora. A most popular and beloved design, it was reissued in the fall/winter of 1999/2000, in 2008 and as recently as 2013. The attached fabric/care label dates this scarf as a Hermès 1990 Spring/Summer Collection reissue.
The carre̒'s spring and summer colorway is comprised of a pistachio green and denim blue border, a steel blue background with design details rendered in golds, silver, royal blue, white, sienna and black. This colorway is one that rarely comes to market.
